Asbestos Re-inspection – Epsom Industrial Estate
- Location: Epsom
Background
Key Asbestos Services Ltd recently returned to an industrial property in Epsom to carry out an asbestos re-inspection.
The property already had known asbestos-containing materials recorded, so the purpose of our visit was to check their current condition and identify whether anything had changed since the previous inspection.
One of the materials being monitored was an asbestos-containing bitumen layer beneath the carpeted flooring.
The Re-inspection
Our surveyor inspected the previously identified areas, including lifting accessible sections of carpet where required to check the bitumen layer beneath.
We looked for any signs of damage, deterioration or disturbance that could affect how the material should continue to be managed.
The findings from the visit were recorded so the property's asbestos information could be kept up to date and any necessary action identified.
Why Re-inspections Matter
Finding asbestos doesn't always mean it needs to be removed immediately. In some situations, asbestos-containing materials can remain safely in place provided they are in a suitable condition and continue to be properly managed.
Regular re-inspections are therefore an important part of asbestos management, particularly within commercial and industrial buildings where flooring, services and other areas may be disturbed through everyday use, maintenance or future refurbishment.
Result
The client now has an up-to-date record of the condition of the previously identified asbestos materials, helping them continue to manage asbestos safely across the property.
