Asbestos Floor Tile Removal & Encapsulation

Background

Key Asbestos Services Ltd was appointed to carry out asbestos removal works at a property just off New Malden High Street. The property contained old asbestos floor tiles along with asbestos-containing bitumen adhesive beneath. The client required a safe and compliant solution before refurbishment works could continue.

Work Undertaken

Our team began by preparing the area under fully controlled conditions to prevent fibre release. The asbestos floor tiles were carefully lifted and removed, with all waste securely bagged and consigned for licensed disposal. Once the tiles had been cleared, the underlying bitumen adhesive was assessed.

Rather than removing the bitumen — which can often be unnecessarily disruptive — we recommended encapsulation. The surface was prepared and then sealed using ET150, a specialist encapsulant designed to lock in asbestos fibres and provide durable long-term protection.

Outcome

The works were carried out efficiently with minimal disruption, despite the busy location just off the high street. All asbestos materials were managed in full compliance with current regulations, and the client was left with a safe and sealed floor surface ready for refurbishment.

Result

A clean, compliant and secure environment, enabling refurbishment to proceed safely and on schedule.
